This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable full-stack solutions.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to engineers.
• Advocate for engineering best practices, coding standards, and knowledge sharing.
• Drive technical decision-making processes and assist in technology selection.
• Promote DevOps methodologies, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
• Plan and oversee the implementation of intricate features and user stories.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, business analysts, testers, and client stakeholders.
• Take ownership of technical delivery and ensure it aligns with business and user requirements.
• Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and technical design discussions.
• Engage in release planning, deployments, and production support activities.
• Assume responsibility for production services developed by the team.
• Enhance robustness, resilience, observability, performance, and operational stability.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure quality assurance.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and facilitate root cause analysis.
• Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Participate in show-and-tell sessions, demonstrations, and technical workshops.
• Contribute to engineering and developer communities.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Extensive experience in developing cloud-native applications utilizing TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong grasp of full-stack software development principles and contemporary engineering practices.
• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Solid knowledge of object-oriented and functional programming concepts.
• Proven experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
• Knowledge of data modeling, performance optimization, and database management.
• Experience in integrating services within complex enterprise environments.
• Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proficient in using Jira, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Figma.
• Experience with Scala and/or Java development is desirable.
• Experience delivering services within UK Public Sector or Government Digital Service environments is desirable.
• Familiarity with Government Technology Code of Practice and Service Standards is desirable.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks is desirable.
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and operational support practices is desirable.
• Experience leading distributed or multi-supplier teams is desirable.
