This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable full-stack solutions.
• Offer technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to engineers on the team.
• Advocate for engineering best practices, coding standards, and knowledge sharing.
• Lead technical decision-making and assist in technology selection throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Promote DevOps, automated testing, and continuous delivery practices.
• Plan and spearhead the implementation of complex features and user stories.
• Work collaboratively with architects, product managers, business analysts, testers, and client stakeholders.
• Take ownership of technical delivery, ensuring alignment with business and user requirements.
• Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and technical design discussions.
• Engage in release planning, deployments, and production support.
• Assume responsibility for the team’s production services.
• Enhance robustness, resilience, observability, performance, and operational stability.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure quality assurance.
• Diagnose complex technical issues and lead root cause analysis efforts.
• Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Participate in show-and-tell sessions, demonstrations, and technical workshops.
• Contribute to the engineering and developer communities.
• Clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Significant experience in developing cloud-native applications using TypeScript and Node.js.
• In-depth understanding of full-stack software development principles and contemporary engineering practices.
• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Strong grasp of object-oriented and functional programming concepts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, containerization technologies, React, Spring, and Hibernate.
• Proven expertise with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Solid understanding of cloud security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and relational database design.
• Knowledge of data modeling, performance optimization, and database management.
• Experience in integrating services across complex enterprise environments.
• Background in Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in using Jira, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Figma.
• Desirable: Experience in Scala and/or Java development.
• Desirable: Experience in UK Public Sector or Government Digital Service environments.
• Familiarity with the Government Technology Code of Practice and Service Standards.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and operational support practices.
• Experience leading distributed or multi-supplier teams.
