This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the preparation, examination, and submission of GitLab’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, which include Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and S-1, as well as quarterly investor materials.
• Establish and manage the quarterly and annual reporting schedule, gather cross-functional contributions, ensure adherence to deadlines, and proactively identify potential timeline risks.
• Oversee the earnings release procedure, encompassing the quarterly management reporting package and the review of financial details in the earnings release and accompanying script.
• Manage the disclosure checklist and eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) review process, while pinpointing opportunities to enhance the quality, clarity, and consistency of disclosures.
• Streamline the SEC reporting process by identifying inefficiencies, redundancies, and manual procedures, and then spearheading automation and standardization efforts.
• Prepare or evaluate journal entries, reconciliations, the equity rollforward, earnings per share calculations, and provided-by-client schedules for designated areas such as stock-based compensation and stock repurchases.
• Ensure adherence to SEC regulations and United States generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP) reporting standards, investigate technical accounting matters, and lead the integration of new accounting standards affecting disclosures.
• Uphold Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance for pertinent areas, assist with internal and external reporting packages, and lead or participate in special initiatives such as process enhancements, new disclosure mandates, and merger and acquisition reporting.
• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure or active pursuit of licensure is preferred.
• Experience in managing SEC reporting deliverables, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q, within a public company or a public accounting context serving public company clients.
• A proven track record of enhancing disclosures and reporting processes, rather than merely executing existing procedures.
• Strong project management abilities, capable of overseeing a calendar, fostering accountability among teams, and independently managing competing deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the capacity to research and interpret complex accounting guidelines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience in presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders, as well as collaborating with Legal, FP&A, Investor Relations, and business partners.
• Proficiency in Workiva Wdesk and NetSuite is preferred.
