This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Engage in design discussions and contribute to all facets of application development throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Take ownership of the numerical solutions and mathematical/computer science algorithms that underpin GoldSim’s simulation engine, from theoretical concepts to C++ implementation.
• Enhance GoldSim’s numerical capabilities and suggest new features based on customer requirements.
• Develop GoldSim models for quality assurance, verification, product demonstrations, and customer support.
• Utilize hands-on model-building to validate newly developed or enhanced algorithms.
• Document the theoretical underpinnings and practical execution of GoldSim’s numerical methods.
• Collaborate with the founding engineer to establish formal modeling, quality assurance, and support methodologies.
• Work alongside the software engineering team to incorporate numerical capabilities into the larger platform.
• Convert business and product needs into technical specifications.
• Act as a technical resource for customer support and quality assurance on complex modeling and numerical inquiries.
• Effectively communicate technical and mathematical concepts to engineers, quality assurance, and product stakeholders.
• Employ modern computational techniques, including machine learning, to enhance, approximate, or extend conventional numerical simulation methods.
• Discover opportunities for modernizing GoldSim’s algorithmic infrastructure.
• Master’s or PhD degree in science or engineering, demonstrating exceptional academic performance.
• Extensive experience with applied mathematics and numerical methods for resolving scientific and engineering challenges, including matrix algebra and numerical methods for partial differential equations.
• Background in earth sciences or civil engineering, preferably with experience in contaminant transport modeling.
• Significant C++ programming experience, ideally in the context of scientific or engineering applications.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing practical numerical solutions for real-world issues.
• Strong communication skills; must be proficient in writing and enjoy engaging with team members.
• Familiarity with commercial or open-source numerical libraries and frameworks is advantageous.
• Experience in developing and supporting Windows desktop applications is a plus.
• Practical experience with data science tools such as MATLAB, R, or Tableau is beneficial.
• Experience in applying AI/ML techniques to scientific or engineering software is a plus.
