Lead Quantum Applications Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Oversee application-focused quantum research and strategic technical partnerships in Japan.

• Create and implement Qedma’s error-reduction technologies for practical quantum applications.

• Manage Qedma’s quantum application initiatives in Japan, ensuring the successful technical execution of customer interactions and regional collaborations.

• Propel significant customer projects by converting application and business requirements into quantum workflows, technical proposals, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.

• Innovate application-driven error reduction techniques, including mitigation and correction methods.

• Define Qedma’s error-reduction strategy by leveraging insights from customers, applications, and the regional market.

• Guide the technical sales process, providing counsel to customers from initial discovery through to long-term collaborations.

• Recruit, mentor, and direct the local Quantum Applications Research team.

• Act as Qedma’s representative within the Japanese quantum community.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in quantum computing, physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline.

• Extensive experience with quantum algorithms and practical quantum computing workflows.

• Proven track record of engaging directly with customers or partners in applied or commercial settings.

• Demonstrated capability to facilitate technical discussions with both scientific and business audiences.

• Established scientific leadership, including mentoring researchers and spearheading collaborative research projects.

• Proficient programming skills, ideally in Python.

• Exceptional communication abilities in English and Japanese, both spoken and written.

• Capacity to work autonomously, take charge of regional responsibilities, and lead initiatives across research, product, and commercial teams.

• Previous experience in technical sales, pre-sales, or customer-facing leadership roles.

• Experience in building or leading small teams of technical or scientific professionals.

• Knowledge of cloud-based quantum hardware platforms and enterprise customers.

• Established connections within the Japanese quantum ecosystem.
