Lead Program Manager, Community Wishlist

📋 Description

• Direct the strategic alignment, design, implementation, and assessment of Wikimedia Foundation programs focused on features and fixes requested by the community.

• Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of request intake programs across various teams and departments.

• Monitor delivery, establish metrics and milestones, and assist teams in making a significant impact.

• Enhance wishlist-level team practices, workflows, and processes.

• Support community organizations in executing related programming.

• Manage budgets, resources, contracts, external vendors, and consultants.

• Lead teams across functional boundaries, including both internal and external groups.

• Ensure documentation and transparent reporting structures are maintained.

• Articulate portfolio vision and direction to stakeholders.

• Conduct capacity planning, identify gaps, and suggest resource allocation or escalation.

• Collaborate with Product and Technology leadership as well as program stakeholders to align priorities.

• Establish and nurture relationships with community members, leaders, movement organizations, and diverse stakeholders.

• Create a shared understanding of program goals and stakeholder commitments.

• Design program evaluation plans and develop both qualitative and quantitative metrics.

• Assess program success against established metrics and milestones.

• Prepare reports and presentations detailing program outcomes and progress.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in community management and ownership of community services, including a portfolio of previously led projects.

• At least 8 years of experience managing multi-stakeholder groups comprising staff, partner organizations, and volunteers.

• Demonstrated positive impact on large teams and complex projects while effectively balancing competing priorities and achieving results.

• Strong program management capabilities in prioritization, organization, planning, time management, facilitation, problem-solving, and decision-making.

• Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience in executive presentations.

• Ability to build rapport and influence distributed, multicultural teams with varied communication and learning styles.

• A commitment to and experience in fostering a culture of equity, inclusion, and diversity.

• Capability to navigate complexity and transition from ambiguity to actionable steps.

• Proficiency in communicating and collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Attention to detail while maintaining focus on the bigger picture.

• Preferred experience working in an international organization with a distributed workforce.

• Experience with the Wikimedia community or a movement characterized by strong culture and values is preferred.

• Current work authorization in the hiring location for non-U.S. employees.
