Lead Product Designer, Banking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create high-quality interactive experiences across mobile platforms, including iOS and Android, as well as web applications.

• Oversee projects throughout the complete design lifecycle, from initial creative ideas to final production and launch.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to establish strategies and a roadmap aimed at achieving growth objectives.

• Work alongside and offer feedback and guidance to other designers.

• Assess current processes, identify best practices, develop strategies, and implement enhancements.

• Utilize and contribute to the Step Design System.

• Direct the overall product, design, and user experience strategy for Step’s core banking platform.

• Make design choices and lead the design of specific features.

• Shape product strategy and unite cross-functional teams around mobile solutions.

• Report directly to the Head of Design.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in end-to-end hybrid UX and UI product design for consumer-facing products.

• Considerable experience leading design initiatives for consumer fintech products is preferred.

• Ability to think systemically to design scalable and consistent solutions across various products.

• Strong visual design skills, balancing systemized UI with expressive, brand-driven design.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a quality-oriented design approach.

• Capability to spearhead significant projects, delegate tasks, and guide other designers.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capacity to contemplate product strategy and vision, including determining what to develop.

• Experience in building and launching mobile or web applications/software.

• Leverages AI as a tool for creativity and productivity enhancement.

• A portfolio showcasing examples of design work is required.

• Experience in creating and maintaining scalable design systems is a plus.

• Ability to convert designs into production-quality code is an advantage.

• A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for team offsite events and essential meetings.
