This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct technical analysis related to power electronics and power systems control for renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives, and FACTS.
• Provide customers with expertise in power systems engineering, which includes modeling, analysis, equipment design and specification, as well as failure mode analysis.
• Develop, adjust, and parameterize simulation models that represent GE Vernova inverter-based resources (IBR) products such as wind turbines, solar systems, and battery storage.
• Assess grid code compliance and the implications of renewable projects on bulk power systems.
• Assist in the development of transmission and distribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) products by engaging in industry standards groups to address evolving codes and standards.
• Execute power system transient studies and detailed equipment modeling utilizing suitable software tools.
• Cultivate a technical understanding of the electrical characteristics of GE Vernova’s power electronic generation and transmission products and their integration into electrical grids.
• Effectively convey results to both internal and external stakeholders by preparing comprehensive written reports or presentations that outline analyses conducted, solutions devised, and customer value propositions.
• Broaden industry knowledge and present technical topics at regional forums and conferences; act as a thought leader within industry initiatives.
• Engage actively in a collaborative environment where teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation are valued.
• A Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of three (3) years of industry experience in performing transient analysis using simulation tools like PSCAD/EMTDC and EMTP, as well as steady state and dynamic analysis using large database simulation tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSLF, and DSATools (e.g., PSAT, TSAT, SSAT).
• A minimum of three (3) years of industry experience utilizing common programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN).
• Alternatively, a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or a related field is acceptable, with no industry experience required for this qualification.
• A robust background in power system analysis.
• A solid understanding of inverter-based resources, including design and application considerations, with experience in developing user-defined models.
• Willingness to travel for project support, team meetings, and participation in industry standard working group meetings and conferences (up to 10%).
