Lead Platform Manager, Tech Foundations

📋 Description

• Take ownership of product domains and comprehensive workflows that enhance developer productivity

• Analyze developer experiences, pinpoint issues, and implement solutions that span organizational boundaries

• Define the standards for developer productivity at Airbnb, establishing metrics, tools, and qualitative research

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product marketing, and technical program managers to shape product roadmaps

• Create and manage Product Requirements Documents and Business Requirements Documents

• Work alongside engineers, designers, data scientists, and field operations teams to scale solutions effectively

• Establish a product vision and guiding principles for the area

• Map out and enhance developer workflows across infrastructure, reliability engineering, and developer experience

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, TPM, and Data Science to set success criteria and measurable objectives and key results

• Develop product roadmaps and synchronize prioritization and timelines with business objectives

• Influence teams without direct oversight to prioritize developer productivity initiatives

• Comprehend Airbnb's engineering workflows and technical architecture

• Execute efficiently to deliver products that create impactful business and user outcomes

• Lead cross-functional teams and serve as the voice of the system

• Communicate effectively and influence decisions at all levels of the organization

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of product management experience in developing tools and platforms for technical users, such as developer tooling, infrastructure, or platform products

• Proven track record of enhancing developer or engineering productivity, supported by measurable results

• Experience in defining and operationalizing metrics for challenging-to-quantify outcomes

• Strong grasp of technical architecture for complex and highly scalable systems

• Familiarity with contemporary AI-driven developer workflows, including AI-assisted development, code review, CI/CD, build systems, testing, and deployment

• Ability to drive results across organizational boundaries without direct authority

• Capability to understand customer goals and needs, crafting products that fulfill them

• Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams

• Proficiency in quickly grasping technical concepts and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Competence in prioritizing and scoping user requests alongside platform capabilities

• Strong storytelling ability to connect issues to a compelling vision

• Prior experience as a software engineer or close collaboration with engineering teams is highly advantageous

• Familiarity with DORA, SPACE, or DevEx frameworks is a plus
