Lead PHP/Symfony Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and uphold high-quality backend systems utilizing PHP and Symfony.

• Take ownership of features from inception to deployment, encompassing ticket creation and technical design.

• Produce clean, strongly-typed, maintainable, and testable code that adheres to strict quality benchmarks.

• Thoughtfully and consistently apply design patterns.

• Establish and sustain comprehensive automated test coverage using PHPUnit and similar tools.

• Advocate for and implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.

• Employ static analysis, linters, and code quality tools to ensure reliability and uniformity.

• Actively engage in code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback.

• Collaborate closely with product, design, and QA teams to deliver robust solutions.

• Deconstruct complex initiatives into well-defined, actionable tasks and oversee implementation.

• Monitor systems and participate in a rotating on-call schedule as necessary.

• Encourage secure coding practices and ensure code is devoid of known vulnerabilities.

• Document architecture, decisions, and processes to facilitate team-wide knowledge sharing.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and foster a strong engineering culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience with PHP (7.4 / 8+).

• More than 3 years of hands-on experience with the Symfony framework.

• Strong grasp and practical application of design patterns.

• Significant experience with unit and integration testing (PHPUnit, Behat, or similar).

• Practical experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Familiarity with static analysis tools (PHPStan, Psalm, or similar).

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, code coverage, and deployment workflows.

• Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to articulate and defend technical choices.

• A high ownership mentality and a strong sense of accountability.
