• Act as the main People partner for Carrier Partnerships, Strategic Accounts, Customer Support, and Finance, fostering trusted connections at all levels, from individual contributors to senior executives.
• Acquire a comprehensive understanding of each client group’s business model, objectives, and talent-related challenges, translating that into proactive people strategies.
• Provide counsel to leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, team efficiency, and leadership development with a focus on long-term, outcome-driven results.
• Proactively identify people-related risks before they arise, presenting data-informed recommendations that empower leaders to make informed talent decisions.
• Represent the People function with credibility in business planning discussions, operational reviews, and leadership forums.
• Manage end-to-end employee relations matters across both domestic and international locations, encompassing performance improvement plans, complex investigations, terminations, and compliance issues.
• Create and continuously refine employee relations frameworks, documentation standards, and escalation paths that foster consistency and mitigate risk on a large scale.
• Offer expert, independent advice to leaders dealing with performance issues, corrective actions, and sensitive employee matters, balancing legal considerations, human factors, and business needs.
• Develop scalable performance management systems — including guidelines, toolkits, and calibration processes — that function effectively without relying on individual efforts.
• Collaborate closely with People Operations and Legal to ensure fair and compliant outcomes, particularly in multi-jurisdictional scenarios.
• Go beyond survey data by cultivating genuine relationships with employees at all levels, including individual contributors, to grasp the real dynamics and insights that can inform important discussions.
• Convert engagement data into clear, actionable insights, identifying trends across client groups and assisting leaders in formulating credible, time-sensitive action plans.
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive listening ecosystem beyond formal surveys (e.g., pulse checks, stay interviews, onboarding/exit signals) that provides leaders with ongoing insights into team health.
• Promote transparency and accountability in engagement commitments, supporting Shippo in nurturing a culture of trust and responsibility.
• Over 8 years of experience in People Partner, HRBP, or similar roles, with substantial time spent as a strategic advisor to senior leaders.
• Truly hands-on: you feel equally comfortable engaging with an individual contributor to understand their experiences as you do presenting recommendations to a vice president.
• Experience in supporting commercial, go-to-market, or customer-facing organizations, with an understanding of the business dynamics of revenue-generating and client-oriented teams.
• Proven ownership of employee relations programs at scale, including managing complexities and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong understanding of U.S. employment law; experience with international teams is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable people programs, frameworks, and toolkits, and successfully implement them.
• Strong systems thinker who relates individual decisions to organizational outcomes and anticipates secondary effects.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, providing structure and clarity without waiting for complete information.
• Trusted advisor capable of influencing without authority, constructively challenging leaders, and maintaining relationships despite disagreements.
• Exceptional coaching and facilitation skills, particularly during high-stakes conversations across all organizational levels.
• Intellectually curious and eager to leverage data, AI tools, and emerging HR practices for more efficient work processes.
• Healthcare coverage for medical, dental, and vision (90% covered by the company, including dependents).
