• Ensure payroll is processed accurately, punctually, and in accordance with specific country regulations and statutory obligations.
• Take full responsibility for end-to-end payroll execution for designated jurisdictions, which includes validating payroll inputs, performing payroll calculations, and managing post-payroll procedures.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the payroll requirements of each country, remaining informed about legislative, tax, and regulatory changes that could influence payroll operations.
• Assist in the operational implementation and launch of payroll services in new or expanding regions, ensuring that payroll execution processes are seamlessly integrated into operational workflows.
• Act as a primary point of coordination for both internal teams and external stakeholders regarding country payroll issues.
• Detect and resolve payroll discrepancies, operational risks, or compliance challenges, exercising sound judgment when escalating complex issues.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of payroll operational processes by identifying opportunities to optimize workflows and enhance operational transparency.
• Aid in the creation and upkeep of payroll documentation and operational knowledge to guarantee that processes remain clear, scalable, and in alignment with internal governance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate system enhancements, statutory updates, and operational improvements that affect payroll.
• Support the integration of automation and AI-driven tools that enhance payroll operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Engage in testing activities associated with payroll system developments, enhancements, and process improvements to ensure operational readiness.
• Possesses significant mid-senior level experience in Ukrainian payroll operations, including direct responsibility for comprehensive payroll processing in Ukraine.
• Has overseen payroll functions in multi-country settings or global organizations, with familiarity with various payroll systems and local regulatory frameworks.
• Exhibits a robust understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and compliance obligations.
• Comfortable collaborating with internal and external stakeholders within Remote's payroll ecosystem, and facilitating coordination among cross-functional stakeholders.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, possessing strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to navigate complex payroll scenarios.
• Excellent written and verbal communicator, adept at working in asynchronous and globally distributed environments.
• Takes initiative in outcomes, identifies risks proactively, and approaches operational challenges with curiosity and accountability.
• Comfortable thriving in dynamic, fast-paced start-up environments.
• Proficient in payroll tools and data analysis using both in-house and external platforms.
• Experience in remote or globally distributed teams is a plus.
• Demonstrates strong fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
