Lead Network Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Create and oversee the development of internal tools that support and maintain essential network infrastructure.

• Collaborate with the networking team to identify requirements for infrastructure automation.

• Provide automated troubleshooting, alerting, and tools to address intricate networking challenges.

• Collect metrics, telemetry, and configuration information from diverse networking devices.

• Design applications and write code to automate functions related to the network.

• Establish monitoring and reporting systems for network devices and their behaviors.

• Recognize areas that can gain from automation.

• Implement automation and analytics to enhance SS&C’s network.

• Create custom tools to boost enterprise network support, expedite problem resolution, proactively tackle issues, and minimize network-impacting events.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience leading software development projects within the network engineering domain.

• Experience with automation across various platforms, including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, VMware/NSX-T, F5, Arista, Aruba, and Cumulus.

• Proven experience in developing custom APIs.

• Over 3 years of experience in Python programming.

• Familiarity with Ansible and Python tools pertinent to network engineering, such as Netmiko and PyATS.

• Experience with external REST APIs.

• Strong understanding of both relational and non-relational database systems, including SQL databases and Splunk/ELK.

• Working knowledge of data visualization platforms, such as Grafana.

• At least 3 years of network engineering experience, covering routing/switching, robust BGP, and firewalls.

• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment, share and reuse existing code, document work meticulously, and utilize Git for code management.
