Lead Medical Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee the clinical aspects of Curative’s Baseline Visit initiative or the ongoing Primary Care model.

• Execute virtual Baseline clinical check-ins adhering to Curative protocols and applying sound clinical judgment.

• Assess medical, surgical, family, social, medication, allergy, and preventive-care histories; address concerns, goals, and obstacles.

• Identify preventive-care requirements and clinically significant risks while formulating personalized health roadmaps.

• Recognize needs that necessitate urgent, primary, specialty, behavioral-health, pharmacy, or care-management assistance and ensure safe transitions.

• Accurately and promptly document encounters, assessments, plans, education, referrals, and follow-up requirements.

• Deliver evidence-based preventive, acute, and chronic primary care via telehealth and coordinate in-person evaluations as necessary.

• Assess symptoms, establish differential diagnoses, order and interpret laboratory and imaging tests, and communicate findings.

• Prescribe and manage medications, including reconciliation, monitoring, education, and coordination with pharmacies.

• Manage stable chronic conditions, bridge preventive-care gaps, and develop follow-up strategies.

• Refer patients to emergency, urgent, specialty, behavioral-health, or other services and ensure smooth transitions.

• Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice professionals.

• Offer case consultation, escalation support, feedback, and mentorship to clinicians.

• Define and uphold clinical workflows, protocols, documentation standards, escalation pathways, and transitions.

• Analyze quality, safety, access, member experience, and documentation trends while leading corrective actions.

• Assist in the onboarding, calibration, and ongoing education of clinicians.

• Collaborate with clinical, product, operations, compliance, and health-plan teams while maintaining physician independence.

• Represent Curative PLLC to internal and external stakeholders as delegated by the Chief Medical Officer.

• Define and periodically reassess clinical scorecards, KPI definitions, data sources, ownership, targets, and reporting schedules with the Chief Medical Officer.

• Monitor access, completion of Baseline Visits, documentation quality, referrals, preventive-care gaps, productivity, safety incidents, and member experience.

• Generate reports that elucidate performance, trends, risks, root causes, and necessary corrective actions.

• Utilize stratified data to discover unwarranted variations and validate metric logic and data integrity.

• Translate KPI insights into enhancement plans and track the outcomes of interventions.

• Employ approved AI and analytics tools for documentation, information synthesis, literature reviews, workflow assessments, quality monitoring, and performance reporting.

• Validate AI-generated content and recommendations while ensuring physician accountability.

• Safeguard patient information and comply with privacy, security, record-retention, and AI-governance protocols.

• Assess AI use cases for clinical value, workflow compatibility, bias, safety, explainability, and measurable outcomes.

• Test tools, determine human oversight, monitor post-launch performance, and rectify errors or unintended effects.

• Work full-time, with occasional evening or limited weekend commitments; infrequent travel may involve visits to Austin or optional travel to Curative locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution.

• Completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.

• Valid, unrestricted Texas medical license and willingness to obtain and maintain additional state licenses as needed.

• Current, unrestricted DEA registration and ability to fulfill applicable controlled-substance prescribing regulations.

• Capability to complete credentialing and maintain good standing with Curative Health Plan and other requisite entities.

• Experience in primary care and the ability to make safe, independent clinical decisions in both virtual and in-person environments.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, dependable follow-through, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style.

• Proficiency in interpreting clinical and operational data, defining meaningful KPIs, identifying data-quality issues, and conveying findings to clinical and executive audiences.

• Capacity to responsibly utilize approved AI tools and independently verify their outputs prior to clinical or operational application.

• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is preferred.

• A minimum of two years of direct primary-care experience is preferred.

• Experience in delivering telehealth services across multiple states or clinical settings is preferred.

• Background in supervising, collaborating with, or mentoring advanced practice professionals is preferred.

• Familiarity with quality assurance, quality improvement, peer review, or clinical program development is preferred.

• Experience in developing clinical services in dynamic or early-stage environments is preferred.

• Comfort in using data and clinician feedback to enhance access, consistency, safety, and patient experience is preferred.

• Experience in creating dashboards or recurring performance reports using spreadsheet, business-intelligence, statistical, or SQL-based tools is preferred.

• Experience in evaluating or implementing AI-enabled clinical, documentation, quality, or operational workflows under established governance is preferred.
