Lead Mechanical Engineer, Methods and Tooling – P. Eng stamp/seal required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Gather information from the site, Project Engineering Manager, logistics, and Centers of Excellence.

• Create synopses for installation/maintenance and generate transport lashing drawings.

• Establish methods for the handling, transportation, support, erection, and maintenance of turbine and generator components.

• Visualize erection and maintenance operations in line with site procedures and EHS regulations.

• Conduct calculations and develop tools following CoE Design Practices.

• Act as the representative of the Tooling Center of Excellence to project teams, systems integrators, project engineers, supply chain, and construction and commissioning teams.

• Oversee the calculation and design of the complete tooling list while adhering to planning, cost, and safety standards.

• Create specific tools, including 3D models, calculation notes, fabrication drawings, and instructional manuals.

• Determine machine access requirements.

• Identify and define special packing needs.

• Prepare lifting diagrams.

• Approve tooling designs for North American projects when necessary.

• Input synopsis BOMs into the GE product lifecycle management system.

• Engage in the design of tools or equipment components to meet tooling specifications.

• Serve as the initial point of contact for support requests from the site team.

• Coordinate synopsis tasks with subcontractors or technicians.

• Recognize standard tools available in the market.

• Carry out awarded project work in North America, focusing on design validation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Extensive experience (>5 years) in mechanical design.

• P. Eng stamp/seal necessary for the state of WA and/or AR.

• US stamp required.

• Experience in the design of lifting equipment and access platforms or significant on-site experience.

• Strong knowledge of CAD and calculations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for international interactions.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams.

• Strong interpersonal abilities.

• Proven leadership capabilities.

• Familiarity with Hydropower Plant products (preferred).

• Experience in project management (preferred).

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening, as applicable.
