Lead Mechanical Engineer, Methods and Tooling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Gathering information from the site, Project Engineering Manager, logistics, and the Center of Excellence to develop the synopsis (sequence of installation/maintenance) and lashing (transport) drawings.

• Visualizing the erection and maintenance operation based on the procedure (conducted by the site team) to maximize the use of standard tools while adhering to EHS regulations.

• Conducting calculations and designing tools in accordance with the CoE’s Design Practices, with validation from the tooling principal engineer.

• Acting as the representative for the Tooling Center of Excellence (CoE) in discussions with the Project Team, including System Integrator, CoE main project engineers, Supply Chain, and Construction & Commissioning.

• Coordinating within the Tooling CoE to calculate and design the complete list of tools identified during the synopsis phase, ensuring compliance with planning, cost, and safety requirements.

• Creating specific tools including 3D models, calculation notes, fabrication drawings, and instruction manuals.

• Developing lifting drawings.

• Updating the synopsis BOM in the GE product life management system.

• Participating, when necessary, in the design of the tool or component itself to fulfill tooling requirements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experience.

• Extensive experience (>5 years) in mechanical design - US stamp is mandatory.

• Background in designing lifting equipment and access platforms, or considerable experience on-site.

• Proficient knowledge of CAD and calculation techniques.

• Exceptional written and verbal English skills for effective international communication.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional and global teams.

• Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership capabilities, and a positive attitude.
