This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the mechanical engineering execution of large-scale gas power generation projects from the estimation phase through construction support and project completion.
• Create initial mechanical designs for proposals that enhance constructability, equipment reliability, safety, cost-effectiveness, and adhere to Blattner best practices.
• Direct the development of the Basis of Design, conduct mechanical engineering reviews, manage RFIs, and handle technical documentation throughout the project's duration.
• Assess mechanical equipment layouts, P&IDs, equipment specifications, balance of plant systems, vendor drawings, and third-party engineering packages.
• Synchronize mechanical engineering tasks with Project Engineering, Estimating, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, Owners, EORs, equipment manufacturers, and external engineering firms.
• Assist in the selection of mechanical equipment, procurement strategies, vendor assessments, and technical submittal evaluations.
• Facilitate constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, and technical risk evaluations.
• Guide and nurture engineers and CAD Designers through technical support, work product assessments, and engineering best practices.
• Propel mechanical engineering standards, document lessons learned, and foster continuous improvement initiatives.
• Aid in the integration of gas turbines, reciprocating engines, BOP systems, fuel gas systems, cooling systems, and auxiliary mechanical equipment.
• Act as the technical mechanical engineering expert for intricate design challenges during project execution.
• A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or the ability to obtain one within a year of employment.
• A minimum of seven years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in utility-scale power generation, industrial facilities, EPC, heavy infrastructure, or related fields.
• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex mechanical engineering projects.
• Background in supporting gas turbine facilities, reciprocating engine generation plants, simple-cycle and combined-cycle power plants, or BOP systems.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical equipment layouts, piping systems, fuel gas systems, cooling water systems, auxiliary mechanical equipment, and power generation infrastructure.
• Experience collaborating with gas turbine OEMs, reciprocating engine manufacturers, or EPC firms.
• Proven track record of working with Owners, EORs, equipment manufacturers, EPC partners, and construction teams.
• Demonstrated capability to lead mechanical engineering teams while mentoring and developing technical talent.
