Lead Mechanical Engineer – Fleet Reliability and Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Perform site inspections to evaluate the current condition of turbines and/or generators, overseeing signature tests on the unit prior to disassembly on site.

β€’ Engage in daily phone discussions with the site team to address inquiries and anticipate potential issues.

β€’ Recommend additional work following the disassembly and inspection of existing components.

β€’ Review and approve site record sheets.

β€’ Resolve non-conformities and general issues.

β€’ Conduct site visits during critical project phases.

β€’ Assist during the commissioning and testing phases.

β€’ Address reliability issues during the warranty period.

β€’ Provide feedback from experiences to the design team.

β€’ Serve as the primary site contact for operation and maintenance contracts.

β€’ Prepare service design and related documentation for service projects, which includes customer support, condition assessments, spare parts, part refurbishment, and partial unit refurbishment.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

β€’ At least 5 years of relevant experience in the hydro industry.

β€’ Willingness and capability to travel within North America and internationally.

β€’ Ability to work remotely within a team and communicate effectively.

β€’ Must be prepared to undergo pre-employment screening, which includes reference verification and background checks.

β€’ Must possess unrestricted work authorization for the USA.

β€’ Attributes such as creativity, responsiveness, a sense of urgency, a balanced mix of common sense and scientific understanding, effective priority management, proactivity, autonomy, and strong communication skills are required.

β€’ Knowledge of hydro turbine and generator design and installation methods.

β€’ A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

β€’ Familiarity with calculation methods concerning material strength, finite element simulation, metallurgy, and welding processes will be considered an advantage.
