This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +3 more countries.
• Oversee the architecture, development, debugging, and maintenance of components for both Windows kernel-mode and user-mode, with a particular emphasis on Windows network drivers and WFP.
• Create and enhance solutions tailored for high-speed and high-throughput networking environments.
• Analyze and resolve issues related to the kernel, networking, performance, compatibility, and interoperability, including BSODs, race conditions, deadlocks, memory corruption, and leaks.
• Lead the progression of issues from root-cause analysis to implementation, validation, and production deployment.
• Work collaboratively with other engineering teams and contribute to the design of Windows-specific and cross-platform architectures and interfaces.
• Maintain and enhance the Kernel Team’s codebase, drivers, and associated components.
• Conduct reverse engineering and low-level analysis in partnership with security analysts, malware researchers, and reverse engineers.
• Utilize tools such as WinDbg/KD, ETW/WPP, crash dump analysis, profiling, tracing, and diagnostic utilities.
• Employ AI-assisted engineering tools for various tasks including development, code analysis, debugging, reverse engineering, investigation, trace/log analysis, and technical research.
• Provide technical leadership by delineating work, assigning tasks, coordinating efforts among distributed developers, and ensuring successful delivery across various locations.
• Share knowledge through technical discussions, code reviews, and comprehensive documentation.
• Report progress, technical challenges, risks, dependencies, and critical issues to the Kernel Team Director of Development.
• A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in Windows kernel development.
• Deep understanding of Windows internals, networking, synchronization, memory management, and kernel debugging.
• Proficient in C/C++ systems programming.
• Extensive experience with Windows kernel drivers, WinDbg/KD, ETW/WPP, crash dump analysis, and profiling techniques.
• Familiarity with WFP/NDIS or a willingness to cultivate expertise in these domains.
• Proven track record in developing and optimizing performance-critical kernel components.
• Comprehension of concurrency, scalability, latency, resource efficiency, reliability, and system stability.
• A solid background in cybersecurity, endpoint protection, or related security technologies is advantageous.
• Practical skills in reverse engineering and low-level analysis.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities spanning kernel, networking, hardware, virtualization, and user/kernel boundaries.
• Mandatory experience with AI-assisted engineering, including practical application of AI for development, debugging, code analysis, investigation, and technical research.
• Capacity to assume technical ownership, lead complex investigations, coordinate work across teams, and disseminate technical knowledge.
• Experience with Linux, macOS, or other low-level platforms is a significant advantage.
• Exceptional English communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
