Lead Innovation Software Engineer

📋 Description

• Acquire a robust understanding of Fifth Third Bank’s existing and future technology and product architecture.

• Contribute to the bank’s transformation into a product-driven enterprise supported by a contemporary technology foundation.

• Identify and prioritize opportunities for enhancing enterprise technology capabilities.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and business leaders to conceptualize, demonstrate, and develop financial products, business processes, and technology-enhanced capabilities.

• Oversee end-to-end ETL data workflows from both structured and unstructured sources.

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses and create interactive dashboards and visualizations, such as Power BI.

• Assess and benchmark fintech companies and emerging startups, consolidating findings into comparative evaluations and strategic recommendations.

• Drive enterprise thinking in areas such as innovation, software development, fintech, artificial intelligence, and digital assets.

• Investigate and assess emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends.

• Convert customer requirements, competitor activities, industry changes, and technological advancements into actionable insights.

• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members and partners.

• Connect patterns across industry, technology, and cultural shifts, articulating their business implications.

• Design solutions while considering the broader business and technology ecosystem.

• Employ structured problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.

• Advise senior leaders and stakeholders on technology options and design strategies.

• Develop narratives, demonstrations, prototypes, and communications that effectively illustrate concepts.

• Share insights, best practices, and innovative ideas throughout the organization.

• Serve as a liaison between Risk, Audit, and Analytics teams.

• Identify, evaluate, manage, monitor, and report on risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in roles closely related to the responsibilities of this position.

• Strong front-end development skills with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, React, Vue, or similar frameworks.

• Significant back-end development experience with APIs, services, Kafka, databases, SQL, and modern data platforms like Snowflake.

• Extensive experience with at least one server-side language, such as Python, Java, Node.js, or PHP.

• Infrastructure experience in building, configuring, and supporting scalable web applications in AWS, Azure, or hosted environments.

• Familiarity with server-side tools, deployment practices, and hosting models.

• Experience in a mature DevOps environment utilizing version control, CI/CD, and automated testing.

• Proficient with generative AI for productivity and comprehensive software development lifecycle.

• Solid working knowledge of SQL and modern data platforms like Snowflake.

• Experience in building and consuming real-time/event-driven, as well as batch/integration data pipelines.

• Familiarity with the end-to-end data lifecycle, analytics/reporting tools such as Power BI, and/or Dataiku.

• Strong understanding of agile product development and iterative delivery processes.

• Basic knowledge of blockchain, digital assets, smart contracts, and web3 technologies.

• Capability to make informed design decisions and articulate the reasoning behind them.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Skill in building trust with team members, business partners, and customers.

• Commitment to mentoring and disseminating knowledge and best practices.

• Ability to recognize opportunities for change and translate them into design or technology solutions.

• Comfort with working iteratively with incomplete information and adapting based on feedback.
