
Lead Engineer – Transmission Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Define the technical direction and philosophy for the Qualus organization.
• Act as an industry authority acknowledged by clients and colleagues.
• Implement NERC/FERC guidelines in transmission planning activities.
• Conduct steady-state studies.
• Create System Impact Studies and Transmission Service Requests.
• Simulate and evaluate client transmission and generation systems during both normal and emergency operations.
• Assign and oversee projects or job responsibilities.
• Mentor junior consultant engineers.
• Delegate, plan, prioritize, and assess the work of other consultants.
• Support strategy and analysis recommendations with documentation and data.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Four (4) to ten (10) years of engineering experience.
• Proven experience in conducting steady-state studies.
• Understanding of power system analysis and modeling techniques.
• Familiarity with load flow software such as TARA, PSSE, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld.
• Experience in generating System Impact Studies and Transmission Service Requests.
• Acknowledgment as an industry expert and knowledge of relevant NERC/FERC guidelines.
• Excellent analytical and computer skills.
