This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of and enhance vital catalog systems, encompassing product onboarding, attribute management, data enrichment, validation workflows, and tools for product readiness.
• Design and manage scalable services and data models that guarantee product information is accurate, complete, consistent, and accessible to downstream systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Merchandising, Data Science, and Operations teams to uncover significant issues, assess trade-offs, and establish clear technical roadmaps.
• Independently spearhead initiatives from conceptualization to production implementation, including technical design, execution, launch, and outcome assessment.
• Enhance catalog data quality by developing systems that identify, prevent, and rectify incomplete, inaccurate, or inconsistent product information.
• Ensure catalog workflows facilitate efficient merchandising operations and assist teams in preparing products for large-scale sales.
• Guide engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, technical feedback, and shared accountability for engineering standards.
• Monitor, instrument, and optimize systems for reliability, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to harmonize technical solutions with business requirements and operational workflows.
• You have over 5 years of software engineering experience with a proven impact in complex domains.
• You possess experience in building and maintaining large-scale production systems, data platforms, workflow tools, or product information systems.
• You have a strong interest or experience in catalog management, product data, merchandising systems, e-commerce, supply chain, or similarly operationally intensive environments.
• You are proficient in at least one modern programming language, such as Go, Java, Ruby, Python, or similar, and are open to working across different languages.
• You have a demonstrated ability to independently drive initiatives through uncertainty, from initial discovery to final delivery.
• You communicate effectively, translating technical information into business outcomes for varied audiences.
• You are adept at navigating cross-functional dynamics and negotiating trade-offs to advance projects.
• You have solid experience with relational databases, such as Postgres or MySQL, and can quickly adapt to new technologies.
• You have experience building and managing services on a major cloud platform, like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and are comfortable using observability tools such as Datadog.
• You recognize the importance of data quality, workflow reliability, and system observability in supporting critical business operations.
• You value automated testing, continuous delivery, and observability as fundamental principles of engineering quality.
