Lead Engineer – Courses

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead the **developer experience and system health metrics** initiatives within the Courses vertical, ensuring alignment with the latest organizational standards.

• Implement measurable enhancements in developer productivity, system reliability, observability, and deployment speed.

• **Develop and maintain reusable UI components** that align with Highlevel’s design system to guarantee consistency across both web and mobile applications.

• **Improve load times, ensure seamless interactions, and enhance rendering efficiency** by reducing bottlenecks and utilizing strategies like lazy loading, code splitting, and caching to support over 700,000 users.

• Mentor frontend engineers by sharing best practices in performance optimization, UI development, and contemporary frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js), promoting a culture of technical excellence.

• Identify and rectify UI/UX bottlenecks, accessibility issues, security vulnerabilities, and frontend technical debt to provide a refined user experience.

• Contribute to the **design and development of backend APIs** that support frontend functionalities, ensuring smooth data flow and integration with application features.

• Acquire in-depth knowledge of the product, customer requirements, and competitors to improve user experience and align features with the expectations of creators and learners.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality, cohesive user experiences across web and mobile platforms.

• Stay updated with the latest frontend technologies (e.g., WebAssembly, modern JavaScript frameworks) and advocate for improvements in the tech stack to boost performance and developer productivity.

• Leverage AI-driven tools and frameworks to enhance frontend experiences, such as personalizing user interfaces, optimizing content delivery, or automating UI testing and performance analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant expertise in **frontend development.**

• Proficient in **modern front-end frameworks** (e.g., React, Vue, Angular) and in building full-stack web applications.

• Previous experience integrating or developing **AI-powered developer tools** that enhance developer productivity.

• Strong hands-on backend experience with **Node.js and Cloud Platform**; familiarity with Cloudflare CDN is a plus.

• Solid understanding of **distributed systems, event-driven architectures,** asynchronous job processing, and queuing systems.

• **Demonstrated success in architecting complex systems and delivering scalable, high-performance web applications in production.**

• Strong grasp of software design patterns, API design, and **microservices architecture** within a multi-tenant environment.

• Proficient in guiding technical architecture, making **high-impact engineering decisions, and mentoring fellow engineers.**

• Familiar with **code quality practices, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines,** and dev tooling optimization.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities, with effective and collaborative communication across cross-functional teams.
