This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist Ulteig in expanding subconsultant partnerships.
• Act as Project Technical Lead for projects involving subconsultants.
• Direct the creation of scoping documents, cost estimates, schedules, substation drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Ensure project outputs are thorough, precise, and consistent with best engineering practices and client expectations.
• Utilize standard engineering methodologies and procedures on moderately complex projects.
• Organize, schedule, execute, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project tasks.
• Provide design suggestions, adaptations, and modifications for utility substations.
• Conduct engineering calculations.
• Address design challenges through field investigations, careful design work, and quality control assessments.
• Synchronize project design elements and communicate effectively with team members.
• Offer technical advice to engineers and subconsultant collaborators.
• Manage intricate substation projects from initial estimates and proposals to detailed design, commissioning, and construction support.
• Supervise, direct, and review the quality of subconsultant engineering design and project timelines.
• Assist with on-site commissioning and construction for energization as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
• Degree must be from an ABET accredited program or equivalent.
• PE License is highly preferred; must be able to obtain within one year.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the Power Engineering sector.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Experience in overseeing, leading, and reviewing the quality of subconsultant engineering design and project scheduling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead complex substation projects with a multidisciplinary team from estimates and proposals through detailed design, commissioning, and construction support.
• Prior experience with physical, protection & control, and/or civil/structural design of electrical power substations is essential.
• Proficient in reviewing and creating substation design drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans, Physical Connection Details, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Capability to conduct AC & DC substation studies is advantageous.
• Familiarity with ground grid modeling software is a plus.
• Knowledge of substation protection and control schemes is beneficial.
• Understanding of basic relay settings, NEC, NESC, and RUS design guidelines is a plus.
• High initiative and capability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations while remaining highly responsive.
• Proven proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Valid driver's license and ability to adhere to company driving standards.
