Lead Domain Engineering Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Engage with customers regarding security-focused products, architectures, and risk topics within the Veeam Data Platform (VDP).

• Conduct readiness assessments and lead data modeling initiatives to confirm solution designs and expedite decision-making.

• Monitor vulnerabilities and attack surfaces (including DRMM scoring), track telemetry or recurring inspection signals, report trends, and document potential health checks.

• Validate designs to mitigate risks associated with adoption and speed up the time to value.

• Identify and express opportunities for expansion; analyze consumption trends and arrange checkpoint reviews (with or without coordination with Account Executives).

• Collaborate with CISO/CIO stakeholders for discussions on risk, status, and opportunities; synthesize insights from account health and CSE-led QBRs.

• Assist Account Executives on security- and AI-driven expansion initiatives; influence roadmap priorities alongside CSE counterparts.

• Function as a pooled resource serving Enterprise and Commercial-Named accounts (typically with $100K+ ARR), generally at a ratio of 1 Security Success Engineer to 6–8 CSE coverage.

• Note: This role does not hold primary responsibility for Onboarding motions or direct accountability for Renewals.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or architecting cybersecurity, data security, or AI/ML-driven platforms (e.g., Security Engineer/Architect, Cloud Solution Architect, MLOps/ML Engineer, AI Security Engineer).

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent); certifications related to AI security or governance (e.g., AI/ML, privacy, or data governance) are highly preferred.

• In-depth expertise in data security and governance, including DSPM and DLP, with proven experience in securing data across cloud, SaaS, and hybrid environments.

• Practical experience with AI security, governance, or emerging AI platforms, including Securiti AI or equivalent solutions (e.g., AI-SPM, data privacy automation, model governance, or AI risk management frameworks).

• Familiarity with AI/ML architectures and model lifecycles, including training data pipelines, model deployment, inference controls, and associated security risks (e.g., prompt injection, data leakage, adversarial inputs).

• Experience in AI/data observability, telemetry, and monitoring across both traditional systems and AI-driven workloads.

• Proven ability to engage CISO/CIO/CDO stakeholders on AI risk, data governance, resilience, and enterprise AI adoption strategies.

• Hands-on experience with solution design, proofs of concept (POCs), and maturity modeling (experience with DRMM or data/AI trust maturity models is advantageous).

• Knowledge of AI governance frameworks and regulatory environments (e.g., NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, ISO standards) and their application to enterprise architectures.

• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the capacity to translate complex AI/security concepts into actionable business results.

• VMCE certification (can be obtained after joining).
