This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in managing multiple projects across different stages of development, from initial proposal to kickoff, design, delivery, and revisions, while ensuring that schedules align with other disciplines and fostering positive client relationships.
• Offer expert knowledge in solar photovoltaic (PV) electrical design, including string sizing, cable sizing, ampacity, 1500V DC, 34.5kV MV, and compliance with National Electric Code (NEC) standards for utility-scale PV power plants.
• Collaborate with both internal teams and external clients to create comprehensive packages that encompass solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, collection system studies, and equipment installation details for Utility Scale Solar PV systems (50-500MW+).
• Utilize current engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to fulfill engineering tasks while providing support for civil, structural, and electrical design workflows as needed on a case-by-case basis.
• Participate in the ongoing development of internal solar engineering standards, tools, and processes.
• Create plans, details, and reports that are thorough, precise, and adhere to best practices in utility-scale renewables early-stage development engineering.
• Collaborate closely with and mentor engineering technicians and design engineers.
• Engage with clients to grasp their priorities and technical requirements, subsequently devising feasible, value-engineered solutions that meet project objectives.
• Review designs and calculations conducted by the internal design team, offering suggestions and executing plans to enhance design quality.
• Examine development plans and specifications for feasibility, safety, and risk considerations.
• Work in conjunction with marketing, sales, business development, and engineering personnel across various markets and technical disciplines.
• Exhibit a broad range of innovative thinking, creativity, and ownership in design processes.
• Conduct site visits to collect notes and photographs of existing conditions to support design efforts and identify critical issues.
• A B.S. in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is mandatory.
• Successful completion of Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or the ability to achieve this within 6 months of hiring, is required; an NCEES Council Record is preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years of pertinent engineering experience, with at least 3 years focusing on the design of utility-scale renewable projects, is necessary.
• Experience as the "engineer of record" (EOR) for construction utility-scale renewables is advantageous.
• Background in stormwater management and permitting is a plus.
• Proven proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D is essential.
• Familiarity with PVFarm, SAM, GIS/ESRI, PVProspect, or similar industry software is a plus.
