Lead Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Head of IT Infrastructure to ensure adequate staffing levels are achieved.

• Prioritize and coordinate staff within the database team for engineering and operational tasks.

• Sharing expertise among team members enhances the overall skills and performance of the group.

• Foster a collaborative environment that emphasizes technical expertise, accountability, and exceptional customer service.

• Work together on the design and construction of a comprehensive production IT infrastructure necessary to support a highly secure and available set of applications across various data centers.

• Partner on the design and development of the corporate IT infrastructure.

• Collaborate with colleagues to create realistic technical roadmaps for the entire organization.

• Identify essential tools for the NOC team to facilitate proper monitoring and operations.

• Implement and uphold controls and monitoring procedures to guarantee the availability of critical systems and minimize service disruptions.

• Comply with quality standards and procedures to ensure that the best specifications are consistently met and maintained.

• Work with the compliance team to offer necessary resources, appropriate documentation, and secure access during audits.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies to suggest new technologies and ideas that enhance the platform and improve efficiency.

• Adapt to new technologies and applications while performing critical duties as needed.

• Assess when services should be outsourced to reduce costs and/or allow internal team members to focus on tasks that provide the National Digital Trust Company (In Organization) with a competitive advantage without sacrificing required security or functionality.

• Occasional travel to other clients and vendor offices may be required.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and collaborate with remote locations worldwide during their respective hours, as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in technology roles, particularly in infrastructure services.

• Understanding of business concepts and the connections between key business processes, products, systems, and networks.

• Proven history of working collaboratively and effectively with business partners.

• Experience in installing and upgrading server and application tools.

• Ability to allocate system storage and plan for future storage needs related to the database system.

• Capable of creating primary database storage structures based on application requirements.

• Skilled in creating primary objects (such as tables, views, indexes, etc.) driven by application needs.

• Proficient in modifying database structures.

• Responsible for enrolling users and maintaining database security.

• Ensure compliance with licensing requirements.

• Control and monitor user access to databases.

• Monitor and optimize database performance.

• Plan data backup and recovery processes.

• Backup and restore the database environment as necessary.

• Engage technical support when required.

• Experience with continuous integration and delivery.

• Demonstrated skills in administration, finance, project management, and vendor management.

• Ability to set and communicate priorities while managing multiple tasks effectively.
