Lead Data Integration Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architectural evaluation of the existing DRIVE/Vital IQ and replica environments.

• Conduct technical discovery sessions with IDOH teams, system owners, external partners, and data consumers.

• Record the current-state architecture, data flows, interfaces, integration patterns, and system dependencies.

• Create an inventory of upstream and downstream systems, APIs, extracts, batch jobs, scheduled outputs, and data exchanges.

• Examine how data is generated, altered, transmitted, accessed, shared, and utilized.

• Evaluate API, ETL, batch, real-time, near-real-time, and event-driven integration patterns.

• Identify undocumented interfaces, operational dependencies, architectural risks, inefficiencies, and constraints.

• Produce integration diagrams, data-flow diagrams, interface inventories, and dependency maps.

• Assess Snowflake, Microsoft Azure data services, cloud data warehouses, data lakes, data lakehouses, and Analytics Cloud Environments.

• Evaluate opportunities for governed data sharing and secure self-service analytics.

• Analyze identity, authentication, authorization, role-based access, audit, encryption, privacy, and compliance requirements.

• Review data lineage, data quality, availability, latency, processing schedules, and service-level requirements.

• Define and compare vendor-neutral future-state architecture alternatives.

• Consider options for replacing or reducing dependency on the existing DRIVE replica.

• Suggest approaches for real-time, near-real-time, batch, API-based, and data-sharing strategies.

• Document the benefits, risks, dependencies, assumptions, limitations, and implementation considerations for architectural options.

• Create a conceptual future-state architecture and modernization roadmap.

• Assist in implementation sequencing, staffing assumptions, level-of-effort estimates, and Rough Order of Magnitude cost estimates.

• Contribute to gap analysis, findings, executive summaries, and presentation materials.

• Present technical findings and recommendations to both technical and executive stakeholders.

• Collaborate with project management, business analysis, security, governance, and cost-estimation teams.

• Ensure that recommendations are secure, scalable, supportable, vendor-neutral, and aligned with IDOH’s long-term data modernization goals.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in data integration architecture, data architecture, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or a related technical field.

• Experience in evaluating complex data environments with multiple source systems, interfaces, downstream consumers, and external partners.

• Strong understanding of API design, management, and integration patterns.

• Familiarity with ETL and ELT processes and technologies.

• Experience in designing or assessing batch, real-time, near-real-time, file-based, and event-driven integrations.

• Experience with enterprise data exchanges and data-sharing frameworks.

• Proven ability to document current-state architecture, interfaces, integrations, data flows, dependencies, and data lineage.

• Experience in evaluating cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics environments.

• Experience developing future-state architecture options and data modernization recommendations.

• Understanding of cloud data warehouses, data lakes, data lakehouses, and analytics platforms.

• Knowledge of governed data-sharing and self-service analytics models.

• Familiarity with identity and access management, role-based access control, encryption, audit, privacy, security, and data governance requirements.

• Experience in identifying architectural gaps, risks, inefficiencies, constraints, and modernization opportunities.

• Proven ability to lead technical discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and architecture reviews.

• Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

• Strong skills in technical writing, diagramming, analytical thinking, facilitation, and presentation.

• Effective communication skills with technical teams, business stakeholders, external partners, and executive leadership.

• Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving.

• Ability to collaborate with clients to discern their needs.
