This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee crisis and issues communications for the western region of the country.
• Enhance awareness of Allstate's involvement in local markets by collaborating with state teams on significant events and activities.
• Provide guidance to state teams regarding media strategy, messaging, and potential challenges.
• Identify proactive storytelling opportunities and prepare for complex regional issues.
• Develop communication preparedness strategies and improve reputation threat detection systems.
• Create case studies on noteworthy issues to aid in detecting, preparing for, and preventing reputation challenges.
• Comprehend local media landscapes to ensure fair representation of Allstate.
• Cultivate relationships with key reporters in targeted markets.
• Direct communication strategies during major catastrophic events.
• Collaborate with partners to convey how Allstate is addressing customer protection and support.
• Monitor insurance reporting and rectify any inaccurate or misleading information regarding Allstate.
• Investigate and address news stories related to customer issues alongside local teams and Allstate’s Claims team.
• Track regional media coverage, analyze sentiment, and provide insights to state leadership.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in media relations, issues management, public relations, or corporate communications.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in building relationships with local and regional media and understanding media landscapes.
• Experience in managing media during crises and providing strategic advice.
• Capability to thrive under pressure and make swift, informed decisions.
• Strong awareness of evolving social issues and current events.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with media monitoring tools and digital platforms.
• Candidates based in Chicago, Illinois are strongly preferred.
• Successful completion of a background investigation is mandatory.
• Reliable internet connection with a minimum of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload speeds.
• A dedicated, distraction-free workspace with appropriate desk and seating when working remotely.
• Allstate typically does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this role.
