đź“‹ Description

• The Communications Lead is an adaptable and results-oriented communications expert who enhances and amplifies the efforts of the Director of Communications.

• Writing and Editorial Support: Edits, revises, and proofreads a variety of communications and materials intended for external distribution (e.g., playbooks, toolkits, white papers).

• Collaborates closely with the content marketing team to create supplementary content (e.g., blog posts, landing page text) for both major and minor publications.

• Ghostwrites and co-authors with subject matter experts throughout the organization, ensuring alignment with Instruction Partners' voice and editorial guidelines (e.g., blogs, conference materials, publications).

• Assists in crafting the CEO's external communications.

• Conducts research as needed.

• Creates and regularly updates materials to support strategic team communications (e.g., citation guidelines, quick reference style guide).

• Major Initiative Support: Aids the Director in generating content for the AI Learning Tour and other significant initiatives (e.g., blogs, recaps, supporting collateral, video scripts).

• Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to develop stories and key messages for organizational learning initiatives.

• Oversees logistics and coordination for communications-related elements of major initiatives.

• PR and Earned Media Support: Assists the Director in implementing PR and earned media strategies—this includes drafting pitches, maintaining media lists, tracking coverage, and organizing logistics for media appearances.

• In partnership with the Director, sustains the marketing news library by monitoring education news, policies, and trends, while identifying relevant stories for the Marketing and Communications team and the larger organization.

• Operations and Coordination: Manages the thought leadership editorial calendar and monitors progress against publication schedules.

• Facilitates the cross-functional editorial and campaigns synchronization between the communications and content marketing teams.

• Cultivates relationships with external contributors and subject matter experts for editorial projects.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or a similarly writing-intensive role.

• Demonstrated ability to embody the organizational voice across various formats—including long-form editorial, executive tone, short-form social media, and internal briefing documents—while simplifying complex subjects into engaging and persuasive content that resonates with key audiences.

• Comfortable navigating every phase of the editorial process, from developmental editing to proofreading, ensuring clarity, flow, and reader value with a keen attention to detail.

• Proven capability to juggle multiple projects at once, balancing competing priorities and meeting stringent, shifting deadlines with strong organizational skills.

• Experience within the education or nonprofit sectors to create mission-driven content that enhances student outcomes.

• Ability to work collaboratively across functions to achieve common objectives while remaining adaptable and effective in navigating organizational ambiguity.
