This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serves as a discipline engineer or overall project engineer, responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and/or coordinating detailed phases of assigned project tasks.
• Provides design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for foundation design, structural steel design, and grading plans.
• Executes calculations using engineering formulas and techniques while completing personal design work, which may involve both computer-aided and manual design calculations.
• Utilizes current engineering methods, procedures, and criteria to accomplish engineering assignments.
• Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to ensure these items are complete, accurate, and adhere to sound engineering practices.
• Implements efficiency engineering relative to design selection.
• Suggests modifications to development and design to enhance quality.
• Collaborates closely with engineering technicians and seasoned engineers.
• May operate in an office setting or in the field.
• Reviews design computations performed by others.
• Coordinates specific design elements of a project.
• Conducts detailed engineering design and evaluations within their area of expertise.
• Prepares reports and correspondence regarding the progress of assigned projects.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program or an equivalent is required.
• Civil/structural Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or the ability to obtain it within 6-12 months of hire, is mandatory.
• Structural Engineer registration is preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of engineering experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with electrical utility substation layout and design is preferred.
• A solid understanding of structural steel, drilled pier & spread footing design and detailing is required, while grading design is preferred.
• Experience with MathCAD, STAAD or similar foundation design programs, and/or other structural modeling software is preferred.
• Knowledge of AISC and ACI is required; ASCE & NESC knowledge is preferred.
• A basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred.
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential.
