Lead Backend Engineer – AI, Back Office

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design and construct scalable backend systems for Midnite’s internal back office platform.

• Lead and guide a small team of engineers while actively participating in project delivery.

• Write production-level code and utilize AI-assisted development techniques to enhance execution speed.

• Implement and deploy AI-driven tools for both engineering and business applications.

• Investigate and utilize technologies such as LLM APIs, agents, MCP servers, and RAG-style patterns to generate genuine value.

• Collaborate closely with the Product team to define requirements, technical solutions, and delivery schedules.

• Engage with internal stakeholders to identify operational challenges and transform them into effective tools.

• Establish architecture, engineering standards, and best practices for a new team and platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possesses 7+ years of backend engineering experience, including roles at a senior or lead level.

• Experience in leading or mentoring engineers in a hands-on technical leadership role.

• Has developed internal platforms, back office systems, or operational tools.

• Professional experience in integrating LLMs or AI APIs into production settings.

• Strong understanding of databases (PostgreSQL or similar).

• Solid system design instincts for scalable, reliable backend services.

• Proficient in Python (or another backend language with a willingness to learn Python).

• Familiarity with cloud, deployment, and production engineering principles, including CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure in modern environments.

• Demonstrates strong ownership, product thinking, and a results-oriented mindset.

• Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
