Laboratory Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Ensure a secure work environment for both yourself and all team members.

• Support daily operations in the laboratory and guarantee prompt, high-quality sample analyses.

• Serve as a relief supervisor when necessary.

• Maintain precise records for sample submissions, preparations, and turnaround times.

• Operate ICP-MS/OES, MP-AES, and AAS equipment.

• Oversee laboratory areas and assign tasks to sample preparation and laboratory assistants.

• Monitor the productivity of the laboratory and track sample progress.

• Organize samples and arrange for the timely return of samples and waste materials to clients as needed.

• Train new employees and keep training documentation up to date.

• Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.

• Collaborate with clients and provide updates on sample progress.

• Maintain cleanliness, functionality, and contamination-free conditions in the laboratory work areas.

• Ensure all equipment is operational; schedule and conduct basic maintenance as required.

• Prioritize work to meet client demands and contractual obligations.

• Uphold the Quality Management System and Laboratory Manuals.

• Review results for quality and accuracy.

• Perform general administrative support duties.

• Adhere to the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional qualifications in chemistry or a related field.

• Experience in laboratory operations, sample preparation, and chemical knowledge.

• Basic proficiency in computer applications.

• Familiarity with acid extraction methods and the ability to recognize sample types.

• Understanding of analytical procedures.

• Knowledge of fire assay operations and laboratory techniques.

• Proven experience in administrative roles.

• Proficient in using CCLAS LIMS.

• Awareness of Company Quality Systems.

• Competent in ICP-MS/OES.

• Competent in MP-AES.

• Competent in AAS.
