This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Ensure the provision of high-quality clinical laboratory services and products within Guardant’s Oncology Division.
• Conduct assessments of histology slides, select tissues, and finalize sign-outs.
• Engage in laboratory operations and enhance digital pathology capabilities.
• Support clinical trial operations while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
• Review slides to estimate tumor content and correlate with diagnoses.
• Communicate with referring pathologists and oncologists when discrepancies are identified.
• Interpret immunohistochemical stains, including PD-L1.
• Participate in the quality management system, managing adverse outcomes and non-conformities, conducting onsite surveys, managing survey results, and performing proficiency testing.
• Oversee the laboratory's quality management system to ensure compliance with Clinical Laboratory Practice Standards.
• Provide ongoing education and remedial training to laboratory technical staff.
• Monitor staff competency and establish related policies and procedures.
• Foster a safe laboratory environment.
• Ensure that an approved procedure manual is accessible to personnel.
• Monitor laboratory operations to guarantee the production of medically reliable data.
• Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of the services delivered.
• Advise referring physicians on the implications of laboratory findings.
• Ensure that test reports contain relevant patient-interpretation information.
• Implement corrective action plans for identified deficiencies.
• Report any concerns regarding test quality and safety.
• Review and approve laboratory documentation, validation plans, training and competency assessments, qualifications, audits, deviation requests, and reports of nonconforming events.
• Must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy license to practice in California and in the state of residence, or be eligible for licensure.
• Physician (M.D. or D.O.) with training and demonstrated proficiency in histopathology obtained within the last six years.
• Currently certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology.
• Experience in signing out IHC cases, particularly PD-L1.
• Preferred qualification for New York State in Oncology and Histopathology, or the ability to obtain such qualification.
• Capable of critically assessing and responsibly utilizing AI-enabled tools in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Availability to work flexible hours and days based on operational demands.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Capacity to work in proximity to hazardous materials, blood specimens, moving machinery, heating or cooling elements, high-speed centrifugation, fumes, and biohazard materials.
• Background screening, including criminal history, is required.
• Part-time schedule of 40 hours every two weeks.
• Remote work model available.
