This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Working remotely from your home office in South Carolina, certified School Counselors will provide virtual assistance to students and parents/learning coaches regarding course selection, scheduling, and serve as the first point of contact for student concerns that encompass various subject areas and non-academic matters.
• Guide students and families in matters concerning academics, career planning, and graduation.
• Stay informed about all high school graduation requirements, including special prerequisites like community service, and communicate this information to the Manager of Counseling and the Assistant Principal.
• Support students and parents in the secondary school course selection process in accordance with state credit and graduation requirements, as well as student interests and needs.
• A vital part of this process involves assisting students and parents in creating a Four Year Plan to satisfy graduation requirements.
• Counsel students facing issues with dropping courses and modifying schedules, seeking support when necessary, while ensuring adherence to the school’s course selection and drop policies.
• Evaluate student transcripts and oversee the entry of credits into the online transcript system.
• Follow established procedures to guarantee that Connections Academy transcripts are precise and current.
• Collaborate with administrative assistants to retrieve school records from the student’s prior school (if applicable) and forward student records when necessary.
• Implement programs for students and families addressing interpersonal adjustment concerns.
• Collaborate with school teams to identify and assist families in accessing school and community resources.
• Engage in the formulation of crisis prevention and management plans for the school and act as a key member of the Student Support Team (SST).
• Coordinate a team of middle and high school teachers to help identify students who are 'at risk' or 'in crisis'.
• Serve as the primary contact for these students and families, maintaining regular communication.
• Oversee and preserve the Personal Learning Plan (PLP) for each student.
• Implement initiatives to secure comprehensive and accurate records for Connections Academy students.
• Support families during the school withdrawal process, assisting with data collection related to withdrawal.
• Report and refer critical incidents that threaten student well-being as mandated by law, administrative guidelines, or ethical standards.
• Keep updated on all state regulations concerning incident reporting and documentation.
• Assist teachers when students enroll mid-semester, ensuring that teachers receive guidance on integrating these students into their coursework and that previous grades, credits, and evaluations are managed appropriately.
• Communicate with the Curriculum Team to ensure that curriculum offerings align with state requirements.
• Implement specialized programs such as Advanced Placement support, SAT and ACT preparation, and college entrance preparation.
• Understand the requirements for and assist the principal in facilitating the administration of all high school testing, including exit exams, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams.
• Aid students in researching and comprehending their post-secondary career and educational options.
• Assist in student preparation for college and job applications.
• Educate students and parents about college admissions criteria and financial aid.
• Assume teaching and grading responsibilities as needed, including instructing middle school elective courses.
• Coordinate high school graduation ceremonies.
• Other duties as assigned.
• South Carolina certification in School Counseling.
• Strong technological proficiency (particularly with Microsoft Office applications).
• Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events (may include occasional overnight travel).
