Junior Software Development Engineer in Test, SDET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Create and maintain automated tests for APIs, user interfaces, and service-level validations utilizing TypeScript, Node.js, and Playwright.

• Assist in the development of load and resilience testing suites using Grafana k6.

• Facilitate the integration of test execution into GitHub Actions pipelines for commits, pull requests, and deployments.

• Evaluate distributed-system workflows that involve Kafka, Microcks service mocking, and inter-service contracts.

• Aid in maintaining Grafana test-observability dashboards while analyzing quality metrics, logs, and performance data.

• Conduct exploratory testing to uncover edge cases.

• Collaborate with developers, Site Reliability Engineers, and product managers while gaining insights from senior Software Development Engineers in Test.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or automation (academic projects do not qualify).

• Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering tools, such as AI coding agents, agent skills, or evaluation harnesses.

• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or another contemporary programming language.

• Familiarity with or coursework in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts.

• Some experience with, or a desire to learn about, Playwright or similar browser automation frameworks and load testing tools like Grafana k6.

• Interest in message brokers (Kafka), service meshes (Istio), API testing, and test-driven development practices.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and developing debugging skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Bonus: experience with Azure, Kubernetes, or containerized environments.

• Bonus: knowledge of contract testing concepts.

• Bonus: familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar observability platforms.
