This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Acquire knowledge of the ACT Power Services North America generation SCADA architecture along with the processes involved in new project development and implementation.
• Assist in the engineering analysis, design evaluation, modification, and enhancement of solar renewable energy projects.
• Provide support in the maintenance and troubleshooting of SCADA systems for solar PV assets.
• Contribute to the development of site UI/UX in Ignition, in addition to creating Power-BI dashboards.
• Familiarize yourself with the ACT Power Services Cyber Security framework and assist in ensuring compliance across all solar initiatives.
• Learn to program and test Schweitzer (SEL) protection relays (e.g., SEL-351, SEL-487) and SEL-3530 RTACs under the guidance of senior team members.
• Aid in the configuration and basic maintenance of PLC hardware for Siemens and Emerson/GE PLCs.
• Practice and implement basic programming for PLC ladder logic and functional blocks.
• Utilize object-oriented programming to assist with team automation tasks (experience with Python is a plus).
• Help in the preparation of performance monitoring tools and fundamental programming applications.
• Assist with project commissioning checks and signal verification activities for SCADA communications.
• Keep organized documentation of specification designs, drawings, bills of materials, and test data.
• Follow testing protocols to validate hardware and software designs.
• Learn and ensure engineering designs adhere to NERC-CIP, UL, IEEE, and ISA standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Automation and Controls Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, Computer Programming Engineering, or a related technical field (Recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
• 0–2 years of exposure to Industrial Automation or internships, preferably with some experience in the Power Sector.
• Academic or internship experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition and Cimplicity.
• Foundational knowledge of PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, ABB, GE/Emerson, Siemens) gained through coursework or practical projects.
• Basic understanding of industry-standard protocols including DNP3, MODBUS, and OPC.
• Familiarity with Kepware (KEPServerEX) is advantageous.
• Strong eagerness to learn about substation automation, protective relaying, and renewable energy infrastructure.
