Junior QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Implement test plans and execute test cases for hardware products, embedded software, and connected IoT systems.

• Conduct functional, regression, and integration testing on 1VALET Entry systems and associated hardware.

• Aid in validating integrations for smart locks, thermostats, access readers, and sensors.

• Provide support to senior engineers during the introduction of new hardware and the establishment of lab setups.

• Test mobile applications, backend services, and embedded firmware to ensure comprehensive system validation.

• Execute tests across various device types, screen sizes, hardware revisions, and firmware versions.

• Reproduce, document, and confirm software defect resolutions in collaboration with software engineers.

• Investigate field issues alongside Customer Experience and Operations teams.

• Simulate customer-reported bugs in the lab using physical hardware and test environments.

• Record bug details and reproduction procedures meticulously.

• Log, monitor, and re-evaluate bugs utilizing test management and bug-tracking software.

• Maintain test documentation and communicate test execution outcomes.

• Engage in discussions aimed at enhancing product quality and testing efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, or equivalent experience gained through internships, practical projects, or lab coursework.

• Fundamental understanding of hardware, software, and basic networking concepts, including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth/BLE.

• Practical experience with physical hardware, consumer electronics, or laboratory equipment.

• Basic familiarity with bug-tracking tools such as Jira or TestRail.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Eagerness to learn about complex hardware-software ecosystems.
