This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the development of utility-scale battery energy storage projects from the initial stages through NTP and EPC handoff.
• Plan and execute engineering tasks during early, mid, and late-stage development phases.
• Create preliminary project design basis documents and initial site layouts.
• Coordinate technical specifications from vendors regarding energy storage technologies.
• Formulate technical scopes of work and specifications for consulting, contracting, and EPC services.
• Evaluate proposals and engineering deliverables from consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Create technical specifications for BESS, EMS, main power transformers, and HV breakers.
• Provide engineering insights for interconnection applications, studies, permitting applications, and offtake proposals.
• Engage in internal and external project team meetings.
• Assemble technical documentation and exhibits for EPC handoff and RFP submissions.
• Enhance development engineering standards and practices by incorporating lessons learned from previous projects.
• Monitor the performance and achievement of key technical objectives throughout project development.
• Assist in quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with codes, standards, agreements, permitting requirements, and company practices.
• Oversee engineering documentation using SharePoint and Procore.
• Develop design review presentations and communicate project technical features and risks to peers and leadership.
• Report directly to the Vice President of Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in power delivery, substations, renewable energy, or energy storage is required.
• An ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required.
• EIT Certification is preferred.
• Familiarity with IEEE, NFPA, CEC, NEMA, NEC, NESC, OSHA, and UL standards is preferred.
• Knowledge of battery energy storage design and technical standards is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills are essential.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to report at an executive level are necessary.
• Must be willing to work remotely and have the ability to travel to project sites.
• International work is not permitted.
• Must be willing to travel to sites within the continental US up to 20%.
• Must be open to participating in multi-day in-person all-hands meetings up to three times per year.
• Must possess a positive, professional demeanor and strong customer service skills.
• Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership abilities are required.
• Excellent time management and analytical skills are essential.
• Demonstrated capability to use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Harvey with sound judgment and appropriate oversight is necessary.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
