Junior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze extensive and intricate datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and potential opportunities.

• Design, develop, and implement predictive models for underwriting, pricing, claims, and customer retention.

• Create and execute data pipelines as well as automated reporting tools.

• Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and product teams to convert business challenges into data science solutions.

• Present data insights and recommendations to leadership through effective data storytelling and visualization techniques.

• Monitor and uphold model performance while ensuring the quality and integrity of data.

• Investigate new data sources, modeling methods, and technologies to improve business performance.

• Work together with data engineers to guarantee data quality, accessibility, and scalability.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent work experience is mandatory.

• No prior work experience is necessary.

• Skilled in optimizing models, machine learning techniques, and analytical programming languages.

• Proficient in Python, SQL, and machine learning libraries (such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM).

• Familiar with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data pipeline tools (like Airflow, dbt).

• Knowledgeable about geospatial data, telematics, or catastrophe modeling.

• Competent in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and dashboard creation.

• Developing understanding of departmental policies and procedures.

• Growing knowledge of industry trends and technologies, regulatory requirements, and model governance in the insurance sector.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States without the requirement for current or future sponsorship.
