Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and transfer conversations to human agents when necessary.

• Create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using authorized information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with CRM systems, ticketing platforms, databases, and messaging services.

• Design and oversee APIs, which includes managing API gateways, authentication protocols, rate limits, and versioning.

• Assist in the creation of voice agents utilizing speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Implement evaluations, automated testing, and safety measures to enhance accuracy and reliability.

• Deliver and sustain solutions through continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), monitoring, and thorough documentation.

• Work alongside full-stack engineers, CX designers, and operations teams to transform prototypes into fully functional AI-driven customer conversation solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are applicable.

• Strong Python programming skills and experience with Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Familiarity with at least one cloud service platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with a large language model (LLM) API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Proven experience in constructing an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, utilizing a framework such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Experience in developing a RAG pipeline, covering document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Background in building and using REST APIs, including aspects like authentication, rate limits, and versioning, along with some knowledge of API gateways.

• Experience in connecting systems through webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating applications with CRM or database systems.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, encompassing embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics like precision and recall.

• Proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Residing in Colombia or Mexico.

• Strong foundational knowledge and relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience are highly encouraged.

• Nice to have: familiarity with speech AI or voice agent technologies, including Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice to have: knowledge of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or integration platforms like Azure Logic Apps or n8n.

• Nice to have: experience with CRM and contact center APIs, including Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice to have: familiarity with LLM evaluation tools such as Langfuse or Ragas.

• Nice to have: cloud AI certifications or other relevant technical qualifications.
