Senior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Train and enhance supervised learning models for both internal tools and customer-facing product functionalities.

• Spearhead prompt engineering and testing initiatives to refine LLM behavior for targeted use cases.

• Design and execute evaluation pipelines for LLMs as well as traditional ML models.

• Collaborate with and optimize data systems powered by Elasticsearch that support AI and intelligence workflows.

• Spot opportunities to enhance AI models, data pipelines, and engineering processes.

• Create tools and frameworks for prompt iteration, model benchmarking, and performance monitoring.

• Partner with the security team to ensure compliance with AI standards.

• Assess and compare both commercial and open-source LLMs with respect to performance, cost, alignment, and reliability.

• Work alongside product and engineering teams to safely, scalably, and sustainably integrate AI features.

• Oversee, evaluate, and continuously enhance AI and machine learning models deployed in production.

• Keep abreast of new research developments in NLP, machine learning, and AI infrastructure.

• Contribute positively to AlertMedia’s culture, values, and overarching vision.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a preference for Python.

• More than 4 years of experience in data science and/or software engineering, particularly in machine learning engineering or applied AI.

• Strong grasp of LLMs and traditional machine learning techniques.

• Experience with prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and evaluation processes.

• Knowledge of model evaluation best practices, including offline metrics, cross-validation, and A/B testing.

• Proficient in Python and relevant ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).

• Experience with Elasticsearch or similar large-scale search and indexing platforms.

• Familiarity with cloud-based ML tools (e.g., SageMaker, Bedrock) and data workflows.

• Proven track record of training and deploying supervised learning models, ideally in production settings (preferred).

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

• Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Willingness and capability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

• Must be a resident of Mexico.

• Candidates must possess existing authorization to work in Mexico without the need for sponsorship, either currently or in the future.
