Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and implement conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and seamlessly transfer conversations to human agents as necessary.

• Create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines utilizing sanctioned information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with CRM systems, ticketing platforms, databases, and messaging channels.

• Develop and oversee APIs, encompassing API gateways, authentication, rate limiting, and version control.

• Assist in creating voice agents employing speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Leverage evaluations, automated testing, and guardrails to enhance accuracy, dependability, and safety.

• Deploy and sustain solutions via CI/CD, monitoring, and thorough documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, customer experience design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are considered.

• Strong proficiency in Python, along with knowledge of Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Familiarity with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with an LLM API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Experience in developing an AI agent that utilizes tools or APIs, particularly using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Background in constructing a RAG pipeline, encompassing document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Experience in creating and utilizing REST APIs, including aspects like authentication, rate limits, and versioning, with some exposure to API gateways.

• Experience in integrating systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as connecting an application with a CRM or a database.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics such as precision and recall.

• Proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Must be located in Colombia or Mexico.

• Strong foundational knowledge and relevant experience through academics, internships, research, or personal projects are encouraged.

• Nice-to-have experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, including Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice-to-have familiarity with MCP, Azure Logic Apps, or n8n.

• Nice-to-have experience with CRM and contact center APIs, such as Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice-to-have knowledge of LLM evaluation tools such as Langfuse or Ragas.

• Cloud AI certifications or other relevant technical certifications are a plus.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
