Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and seamlessly transfer conversations to human representatives when necessary.

• Create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines utilizing approved information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with CRMs, ticketing systems, databases, and various messaging channels.

• Design and manage APIs, including API gateways, authentication processes, rate limiting, and versioning.

• Assist in voice AI development employing speech-to-text, LLMs, and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Leverage evaluations, automated testing, and guardrails to enhance accuracy, reliability, and safety.

• Deploy and maintain solutions through CI/CD practices, monitoring, and documentation.

• Work collaboratively with engineering, CX design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or ML engineering; relevant internships and research experience will be considered.

• Proficient in Python and familiar with Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud service provider: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with an LLM API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Proven experience in building an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Experience in constructing a RAG pipeline, which includes document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Skilled in building and consuming REST APIs, including aspects like authentication, rate limiting, and versioning, with some exposure to API gateways.

• Familiarity with connecting systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, including integrating applications with CRMs or databases.

• Understanding of ML principles, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics such as precision and recall.

• Proficient in both written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Residing in Colombia or Mexico.

• Candidates with a strong foundational knowledge and relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience are encouraged to apply.

• Preferred: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, familiarity with MCP or Azure Logic Apps/n8n, CRM and contact center APIs, LLM evaluation tools, and cloud AI or technical certifications.
