Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and transfer conversations to human agents as necessary.

• Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using sanctioned information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with customer relationship management systems, ticketing platforms, databases, and messaging services.

• Design and manage APIs, including API gateways, authentication, rate limiting, and version control.

• Assist in creating voice agents using speech-to-text technology, large language models, and text-to-speech in both English and Spanish.

• Employ evaluations, automated testing, and safety measures to enhance accuracy, reliability, and security.

• Deliver and maintain solutions through continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), monitoring, and comprehensive documentation.

• Work in collaboration with engineering, customer experience design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready AI-driven customer interaction solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are considered.

• Proficient in Python with knowledge of Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud service provider: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with a large language model API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Experience in developing an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Knowledge in constructing a RAG pipeline, which includes document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Experience in building and utilizing REST APIs, including authentication, rate limits, and versioning, along with some exposure to API gateways.

• Experience in connecting systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating applications with CRMs or databases.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics like precision and recall.

• Proficient in both written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Must be based in Colombia or Mexico.

• Candidates with a strong foundational knowledge and relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience are encouraged to apply.

• This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Preferred: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, familiarity with MCP or integration platforms, CRM/contact center APIs, LLM evaluation tools, and cloud AI or technical certifications.
