Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and transfer conversations to human agents when necessary.

• Create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using authorized information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with CRMs, ticketing systems, databases, and messaging platforms.

• Design and oversee APIs, including API gateways, authentication, rate limiting, and versioning.

• Assist in the development of voice agents using speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Employ evaluations, automated testing, and safety measures to enhance accuracy, reliability, and security.

• Deploy and maintain solutions through CI/CD practices, monitoring, and documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, customer experience design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are considered.

• Proficient in Python.

• Knowledge of Git, Docker, and basic SQL is preferred.

• Experience with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with an LLM API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Experience in building an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, utilizing frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Familiarity with constructing a RAG pipeline, encompassing document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Experience in building and consuming REST APIs, including authentication, rate limits, and versioning, along with some exposure to API gateways.

• Experience in connecting systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating an application with a CRM or database.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics such as precision and recall.

• Proficient in professional written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Must be based in Colombia or Mexico.

• Strong foundational knowledge and relevant experience through academics, internships, research, or personal projects are encouraged.

• Nice to have: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, including Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice to have: familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or integration platforms like Azure Logic Apps or n8n.

• Nice to have: experience with CRM and contact center APIs, such as Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice to have: familiarity with LLM evaluation tools like Langfuse or Ragas.

• Nice to have: cloud AI certifications or other relevant technical certifications.

• Must successfully complete every stage of the hiring process.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
