Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and transition conversations to human agents when necessary.

• Construct retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines utilizing approved information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with CRMs, ticketing systems, databases, and messaging platforms.

• Design and oversee APIs, encompassing API gateways, authentication, rate limitations, and version control.

• Assist in creating voice agents utilizing speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Employ evaluations, automated testing, and safety measures to enhance accuracy, reliability, and security.

• Deliver and sustain solutions through CI/CD processes, monitoring, and thorough documentation.

• Collaborate with full-stack engineers, CX designers, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready AI-driven customer conversation solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are considered.

• Proficient in Python and knowledgeable in Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with an LLM API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Background in building an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Familiarity with constructing a RAG pipeline, including document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Experience in building and utilizing REST APIs, including authentication, rate limits, and version control, with some exposure to API gateways.

• Knowledge in connecting systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating applications with CRMs or databases.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics like precision and recall.

• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Residing in Colombia or Mexico.

• Strong foundational knowledge along with relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience is encouraged.

• Nice to have: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, such as Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice to have: familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or integration platforms like Azure Logic Apps or n8n.

• Nice to have: experience with CRM and contact center APIs, including Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice to have: familiarity with LLM evaluation tools like Langfuse or Ragas.

• Nice to have: cloud AI certifications or other relevant technical certifications.
