Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and transfer conversations to human agents when necessary.

• Create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines utilizing authorized information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, ticketing platforms, databases, and messaging channels.

• Design and oversee APIs, encompassing API gateways, authentication processes, rate limiting, and version control.

• Assist in developing voice agents utilizing speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Implement evaluations, automated testing, and safety measures to enhance accuracy, dependability, and security.

• Deploy and sustain solutions through continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), monitoring, and comprehensive documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, customer experience design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready offerings.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are considered.

• Proficient in Python with a solid understanding of Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with a large language model (LLM) API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Proven experience in developing an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, utilizing frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Demonstrated experience in constructing a RAG pipeline, including document chunking, embeddings, vector searching, and retrieval tuning.

• Skilled in building and using REST APIs, including aspects like authentication, rate limiting, and versioning, with some familiarity with API gateways.

• Experience establishing connections between systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating applications with CRMs or databases.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics such as precision and recall.

• Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Residing in Colombia or Mexico.

• Strong foundational knowledge and relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience are encouraged.

• Nice to have: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, such as Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice to have: familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or integration platforms like Azure Logic Apps or n8n.

• Nice to have: experience with CRM and contact center APIs, including Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice to have: familiarity with LLM evaluation tools such as Langfuse or Ragas.

• Nice to have: cloud AI certifications or other relevant technical certifications.
