Java Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately and promptly define, analyze, and resolve customer escalations.

• Investigate issues reported by customers and conduct root-cause analysis.

• Navigate through extensive and unfamiliar Java codebases.

• Develop production-ready code fixes from defect confirmation to AI-assisted patch creation, automated test generation, code review, and release validation.

• Provide regular status updates to customers, colleagues, and management.

• Document complex issue resolutions for both customer and internal use.

• Contribute to the development of product enhancements after acquiring product knowledge.

• Assist team members in resolving complex issues.

• Utilize AI tools to evaluate the defect blast radius and pinpoint safe paths for fixes.

• Contribute to, review, and maintain content for the knowledge base and product documentation.

• Participate in the periodic after-hours/weekend Pager rotation.

• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in software engineering.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.

• Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows.

• Proficiency in Java, J2EE, Servlets, MDB, HTML, JNDI, Jax-RS, JMS, JUnit, XML, and JSON.

• Experience with AS2/4, HTTP(S), FTP(S), SFTP, REST/APIs, RNIF, and EBICS protocols.

• Cloud experience with at least one of AWS, Azure, Google, IBM, or Red Hat.

• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Maven, Docker, IBM Cloud, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and GitHub.

• Database experience with Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, and/or MySQL.

• Capability to read and write code in an object-oriented language, preferably Java.

• Experience with JDBC, JDK, and JVM stack traces.

• Strong understanding and experience in executing static and dynamic scans and remediating vulnerabilities.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor within an enterprise SDLC and security guidelines.

• Hands-on experience with specification-driven or agent-assisted development workflows.

• Ability to translate problem statements into specifications, guide AI tools, and validate outputs through testing and reviews.

• Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple issues simultaneously.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
