This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for helpdesk tickets, triaging and resolving issues whenever possible before escalating them.
• Efficiently assign and manage tickets through the ticketing system (Freshdesk).
• Maintain and update Excel reports while overseeing helpdesk reporting.
• Keep an accurate inventory of hardware and software, including licensing and lifecycle tracking.
• Source, compare, and procure technology equipment — researching supplier options, comparing specifications and pricing, and identifying cost-effective alternatives.
• Engage and negotiate with vendors regarding hardware and software orders, replacements, and support contracts.
• Assess and benchmark supplier quotes, identifying opportunities to reduce costs without sacrificing quality.
• Develop and sustain relationships with key vendors, staying informed about new products and pricing in the market.
• Address and resolve customer inquiries and issues promptly, maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
• At least 2 years of experience in a technical support, helpdesk, or IT operations role.
• Strong working knowledge of hardware components and software applications, including their interactions — capable of evaluating specifications and comparing products.
• Experience in dealing with vendors and suppliers — negotiating pricing, following up on orders, and sourcing alternative options.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Basic understanding of networking and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal — confident in engaging with vendors, clients, and internal teams alike.
• Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
• Customer-focused with the capability to handle complex or challenging situations professionally.
• Possess a personal device that meets our technical requirements, a stable internet connection of at least 20Mbps (fibre preferred), a suitable workspace, and the ability to communicate effectively across virtual platforms.
